As we celebrate nine decades of transformative education, we are pleased to announce that we are honoring one of CMS’s inspirational teachers who changed lives and taught CMS students to lead by example and act to help others in need. The importance CMS places in immersing its students in community service started in the 1970s with the vision of a passionate teacher, Ms. Ruth Lynch, a.k.a “Sergeant” Lynch, who taught English and History at CMS from 1973-1977.

“Sarge” Lynch started and led the Reach Outs Club, CMS’s first community service initiative, where students volunteered with the children at the Centro de Rehabilitación in Santo Domingo.

Almost 50 years later, we are grateful and thrilled to see how Sergeant Lynch’s legacy still endures. CMS students actively engage in our Service-Learning Program, showing compassion, cooperation, and empathy in every orphanage, rural school, hospital, and organization they support.

Donate now to name our Service Learning Office in honor of Sergeant Lynch to continue her legacy; contributions will also help support CMS’s student-led community service initiatives in underserved communities across the Dominican Republic.

Please get in touch with the Advancement Office at 809-947-1020 for more information and if you want to donate a different amount.
For donors in the U.S.A., you may submit your donation through The Carol Morgan School Foundation, a 501 (C)(3) organization; thus, your gift is tax-deductible in the United States. Please contact Vielka Morales at vmorales@cms.edu.do for further details.
